Our Core Values

In our efforts towards revival for our city, state, and region; and in our desire to fulfill our destiny as a church of power and glory, our pastoral leadership, governing board, staff, volunteers, ministry leaders, and all members of our church family are committed to the mission, purpose, and core values listed below.

01

COMMITTED TO UNCONDITIONAL LOVE

We are committed to and deliberate about growing in and pursuing Christ’s unconditional love within the Body. Our desire is for the love we share within the Saybrook Community Church family to emanate from us to all realms of society, ultimately granting us access, favor and influence everywhere.

02

FREEDOM OF WORSHIP

We strongly believe in and practice freedom of worship during all our gatherings. Worshipers are encouraged to express their devotion, love and adoration for our Lord Jesus through song, raising and clapping of hands, dancing, waiving of flags or banners, painting or drawing, kneeling or lying prostrate and shouts of joy, etc.

03

PROPER ALIGNMENT OF PRIORITIES

A personal relationship with God is paramount. Family obligations/responsibilities follow; and then the ministry. No amount of work or success in ministry can compensate for a solid relationship with the Lord and healthy family relationships.

04

RESPECT FOR THE CALLING AND ANOINTING OF EVERY INDIVIDUAL

We respect the call of God, the anointing, and spiritual gifting of every individual from the youngest to the oldest. God is not a respecter of persons, therefore we treat every member of our leadership as well as the congregation at large as sons and daughters of the King, created in His image – a chosen generation, a royal priesthood.

05

RESPECT FOR OTHER MINISTRIES

We respect every ministry beyond our denominational affiliation and realm of influence, that exalts the Name of Jesus and draws people to Christ. We have a zero tolerance policy for criticism, negativity, judgment, accusation or derision of any Christian ministry. We honor the calling the labors and the testimony of any God-loving, Bible-believing ministry. We have no appetite for gossip, bad reports, rumors or scandals. We respect the traditions and beliefs of other denominations and faith movements.

06

BIBLICAL CONFLICT RESOLUTION

We follow biblical principles for conflict resolution, according to Matthew 18:15-17.

07

CHRISTIAN UNITY

We have a strong commitment to Christian unity and cooperation within the Body. We maintain a zero tolerance policy in regards to murmuring, complaining, bad attitudes and all forms of gossip. The culture we aspire to establish is one based on love, forgiveness, grace and mercy. We diffuse grumbling, complaining, accusations, and gossip by not speaking to those issues, lovingly changing the subject, or directly confronting the erroneous behavior. We do not speak negatively of anyone who is not present at the time and neither do we judge or criticize another ministry within the church.

08

STRUCTURING FOR GROWTH

We continually strategize and structure for growth and advancement, not just maintenance. At any given time various aspects of our vision bring us face to face with impossibilities, which can only be overcome by the grace and power of God. In other words, we live on the edge of the front lines – the safest place on the battlefield!
